-Reduce the consumption of coffee, tea and soft drinks that contain caffeine. Most colored soft drinks contain enough caffeine to keep you awake all night long. Honey drink (made from 2 teaspoons honey in a large glass of water) is a good substitute and is said to promote sleep and is a natural cure for insomnia. Honey in Chamomile tea is even better.
-Adopt a healthy lifestyle with moderate exercise on a daily basis. Just don’t exercise close to bedtime as the adrenaline produced will keep you awake and interfere with your sleep.
-What you eat before retiring for the day may have an impact on your sleep pattern. Avoid eating large heavy meals before going to bed. Try to eat a meal rich in magnesium because magnesium is a natural sleep inducing compound. Magnesium is found in abundant in legumes, dark leafy vegetables, almonds and whole grains.
